GR Yaris
GR Yaris adalah produk global yang dibangun dengan prinsip reverse engineering untuk digunakan dalam ajang balap World Rally Championship (WRC). Tahun 2021 lalu, GR Yaris diperkenalkan secara terbatas sebanyak 127 unit yang langsung habis terjual. Di momen GIIAS 2024, PT TAM mulai memasarkan kembali New GR Yaris sebagai evolusi dari model sebelumnya.
Secara garis besar, terdapat 4 poin pengembangan pada GR Yaris terbaru. Pertama adalah 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct AT mendampingi transmisi manual 6-speed yang tetap ada. Transmisi pintar ini dites performance-nya oleh TGR World Rally Team serta peserta TGR Rally Challenge di berbagai lintasan balap. TGR berhasil menciptakan transmisi otomatis yang sanggup menghasilkan perpindahan gigi sangat cepat, serta memaksimalkan engine power di semua rentang putaran mesin.
Mesin 1.600 cc 3-silinder turbo yang digunakan oleh GR Yaris merupakan salah satu mesin paling efisien dan powerful di dunia. Namun, dapur pacu ini berhasil dimaksimalkan kembali kinerjanya hingga power meningkat signifikan dari sebelumnya 261 PS dan sekarang menyentuh angka 305 PS, sementara torsinya naik dari 360 Nm ke 400 Nm.
Opsi Drive Mode baru serta optimasi sistem 4WD GR Four juga disematkan untuk memaksimalkan peningkatan pada power. Sekarang, pengendara bisa memilih 3 drive mode yang tersedia dengan karakteristik pengendalian yang berbeda; Sport, Normal, dan Eco. Termasuk juga optimasi sistem GR Four melalui 3 mode; Normal, Gravel (Sebelumnya Sport), dan Track yang bisa menyesuaikan distribusi tenaga ke roda depan dan belakang sesuai karakteristik pengendara dan trek yang dilalui.
Panel kontrol dan monitor pada cockpit dimiringkan 15 derajat ke arah pengemudi untuk mempermudah pengoperasian. Postur berkendara juga telah diperbaiki dengan menurunkan posisi duduk driver serendah 25 mm yang memperluas jarak pandang dan visibilitas secara signifikan.
Dari sisi eksterior, sisi kanan dan kiri bawah bumper depan sekarang merupakan struktur terpisah untuk mempermudah perbaikan dan penggantian parts jika diperlukan. Serta perubahan desain bumper depan untuk air flow yang lebih baik dalam mendinginkan mesin dan ATF cooler.
Berkaca dari pengalaman Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid di dunia rally, chassis GR Yaris diperkuat yang memungkinkan pengemudi untuk pushing this car to the limit. Body rigidity ditingkatkan melalui spot welding yang lebih banyak 13%, penambahan body adhesive sebanyak 24%, serta 3-point suspension mounting method yang berdampak pada meningkatnya handling stability dan ride comfort.
